The Special Operations Vector-3 Tandem Sigma (SOV3-TS) Harness/Container System is a state-of-the-art military tandem parachute system designed specifically for HAHO – HALO tandem applications for two (2) jumpers carrying full combat equipment, or for a single operator in tethered tandem bundle configuration; or a single operator carrying a tactical K9 and full combat equipment. The system includes the patented Disc Release System (DRS) and integrated protective flaps which offers superior protection against accidental premature deployments. The innovative patented Skyhook™ RSL System was designed to speed up the deployment of the reserve freebag and allows the canopy to begin its inflation process within 30.5m (100 ft.) of breakaway altitude, thus saving valuable altitude.
Incorporating exclusive safety enhancements and features, the SOV3-TS has unique performance capabilities that set it apart from other tandem systems currently in use. The SOV3-TS is the only tactical tandem system approved for use by U.S. Special Operations forces.
The SOV3-TS, with minimal reconfiguration, can support two (2) different drogue deployment applications depending upon your ever-changing mission parameters:
- Self-Set Drogue Deployment
- Staticline Drogue Deployment
Incorporating exclusive, patented safety enhancements and features, the SOV3-TS has unique performance capabilities that set it apart from other systems in use by Special Operations forces worldwide.
- Three-Ring Release System
The most reliable main riser release device ever invented.
- Skyhook™ RSL System
Insures immediate reserve deployment, cutting typical reserve deployment times by 2/3. The most revolutionary safety device since the 3-Ring.
- Collins Lanyard™
Insures both main risers release simultaneously prior to reserve deployment.
- Disc Release System™
Easy to pack and eliminates dangerous drogue release malfunctions.
- Military Tethered Tandem Bundle (MTTB)
The MTTB option will allow the tandem operator to carry a variety of equipment. The MTTB kit consists of a recovery parachute and container, barrel harness, tether line assemblies, and appropriate hardware and release handles. Typical bundles are cylindrical in shape 75cm-100cm (30”-40”) in diameter, 122cm-183cm (4’-6’) tall. Other bundle shapes are adaptable providing they are symmetrical. A “bundle AAD” and specialized training are mandatory for this option.
- K9 Harness & Training K9 Mannequin
CPS offers several different styles of K9 harnesses for various types of military K9s in service today. Mesh, Cordura, or ballistic vests integrated with the harnesses that are jump-ready which are also capable of fast-roping, rappelling and cave ladder use. K9 mannequins are very functional for training jumps with new operators learning to jump with tactical K9s. These mannequins are made from a special rubberized material which is quite durable. The chest section is hollow so extra weight can be added for a realistic training jump. This K9 flies remarkably well and is the best alternative in gaining experience without the risk of injuring a valuable working K9. Specialized K9 jump-training is mandatory for this option.
- HAHO Seat Sling
A specially designed HAHO Seat Sling allows the jumper to sit during the long canopy ride on an offset jump, thus helping to eliminate the issue of blood pooling in the legs causing discomfort and numbness. This can be a tremendous aid which insures each operator lands at the LZ ready for the next portion of their mission. The seat sling is stored just behind the main container against the jumper’s back, so it remains out of the way during drogue deployment. After the main canopy opens, the seat can be lowered and adjusted to fit.
- Tandem Passenger Harness
The tandem passenger harness is multi-adjustable to fit almost any body shape and size. There are eleven (11) points of adjustment to insure a secure and comfortable fit (Main-lift-web, leg straps w/ butt strap, floating chest strap, bellyband, back strap, and rear diagonals); Four (4) cargo rings for ruck sack attachment; Four (4) weapon stow loops on the back pad, two (2) on each side; Hook knife pouch mounted vertically on the backpad (hook knife sold separately).
The SOV3-TS’s versatile harness incorporates eight (8) different adjustment points to properly size any operator. The innovative 3-bar adapter on the main-lift-web is easy and quick to adjust, and once set, maintains proper adjustment. Form, fit, and function are also demonstrated in the harness due to its glove-like feel both in the air and on the ground. RW-9 base rings, six (6) cargo attachment points, and adjustable B-12 snaps on leg straps (other types optional).
Combat Equipment Capability
The SOV3-TS is completely capable of carrying two (2) operators with full-combat equipment or one (1) tandem operator and a tethered bundle package weighing approximately 181+ kg (400+ lbs.). The TS is also an ideal system for K9 tactical operations with capability to carry a tactical K9, and a K9 handler with light combat equipment, or just the K9 with full combat equipment. Other standard features in support of that operation include:
- Eight (8) weapon stow loops, oxygen hose guide-loop, integral bellyband, and static line clip pockets with integrated stow loops.
- Outboard cutaway and reserve handles (pillow or loop style) facilitate easy access in high stress real-world environments.
- Clear PVC reserve pin cover with integrated CYPRES pocket allows the operator safer and more reliable reserve pin inspections.
- Drogue chutes available in 152cm (60”) and 183cm (72”) diameter sizes for personnel, combat equipment, and bundle operations.
- Optional accessory pouches (oxygen and utility) are available in choices of zip-on, slip-on, or fixed attachments.
- Special carry handle mounted high on the backpad.
